As described in idea (SAGECM-I-552), we utilize checklists for internal workflow purposes.
It would be desirable to set defaults for the "responsible contact" by item in the checklist template, so that when adding the checklist template to a lead/project those responsible for certain internal workflows would not need to be selected every time.

In the Checklist Setup Wizard - Step 2 (see attached) a default Responsible Contact can be setup. After the check list is setup, there is also a Select All > Bulk Action that will allow a default responsible party (see attached). I am going to mark this idea as 'Already Exists', but if I misunderstood the suggestion in any way, send us back a comment with clarification and we can change the status to future consideration.
