We would like for the photos to automatically appear in the Photos tool when we upload to Daily Log.

This was added sometime last year. Don't see any mention of it in the release notes so don't recall exactly when.
You can also add rules for folder creation to group photos.
NOTE its currently only for the 3 other modules in the Documentation module
